Resilience program

About the program

Following the horrors of October 7th, thousands of children and youth have suffered incomprehensible trauma. They were exposed to horrifying scenes, lost relatives and friends and were torn from their homes

We soon realised that the experience and expertise we gained over the past 5 years, is needed now more than ever.

With the help of many of our dear friends and supporters we established emergency programs in 7 locations across the country (among them: Eilat, the Dead-Sea, Jerusalem, Shefayim, Mitzpe-Ramon and Mishmar Haemek), enabling members of the evacuated communities the opportunity to participate in a steady daily routine of cycling training, led by our professional instructors with the supervision of trauma therapists.

Through the past 11 months, over 320 participants, between the age range of 7 – 78 participated in our emergency program, with many of them reporting that it had a significant impact on their ability to rebuild their confidence in themselves and take back control over their life.

In our shared journey, they connect with their abilities and their desire to envision a future. They participate, face challenges, and even take responsibility and dare to lead others.

How do we do it?

  1. Community Partnerships: We identify meaningful figures in the community who will function as our contacts and tailor the program to the needs and limitations of the youth in each community.

  2. Bikes: Bikes are a powerful tool that can bring youth together. No prior experience is needed. It is suitable for everyone.

  3. Long-distance Cycling: We focus on reconnecting. Connecting to a meaningful instructor who helps the youth connect to their body and soul, to a meaningful group, to nature, to their internal strengths, and to the ability to cope with the journey.
What’s next:
As many of the communities of the Western Negev are returning to their homes, or temporary homes (as is the case of some the Kibbutzim who were harmed the most), we are now busy finalizing the establishment of our new cycling center in the Western Negev:

The center will include several branches:
1 – Main center in Kibbutz Ruchama.
2 – A branch in Rimon Farm
3 – A branch in Sapir (at the Highschool of Sha’ar Hanegev)

It is expected to serve 90 youth on a weekly basis over the coming school year, with the goals of serving as a source of light during their school week and a way to rebuild their confidence in their surroundings.
