"Connecting to the Trails" Program

This educational program offers junior-high and high-school students an initial experience with mountain-bike journeys.

The program includes 15 group cycling sessions at one of Bartali’s cycling centers across the country, summarized by a concluding “peak journey”.

The sessions are designed in full coordination and collaboration with the educational staff and are led by Bartali’s instructors.

The program allows the participants to develop a sense of capability by overcoming outdoor challenges, develop a sense of mutual responsibility, and form a cohesive cycling group with long-term potential.

Bartali’s Core educational program

A three-year long educational program for students of youth villages, boarding-facilities and rehabilitation centers, specializes in developing self-efficacy, interpersonal and leadership skills through long-Distance mountain-bike journeys.

The program introduces the students to a long-term process where mountain-bike journeys serve as tools for fostering both personal and social development.

During the program, each of the students goes through a gradual process that includes 1-3 weekly group training sessions towards a series of “peak journeys” in different regions across Israel. Throughout the process, the students take an active role in planning and leading the group sessions, while also expanding their responsibilities, learning how to guide and lead younger participants, transforming their role from young participants into young leaders themselves.

The program teaches its participants, who are often coming from challenging backgrounds, how to achieve their desired goals through grit and extreme perseverance, while also becoming authentic role models for others in their community.

Young Mechanics and Young Instructors Courses

Our young mechanics course enables dedicated participants of Bartali’s Core program in 10th-12th grades the opportunity to receive professional training as young bike mechanics. The course provides them with the necessary foundations for professional bike maintenance, including both theoretical and practical studies. Graduates of the course become “Bike mechanics Coordinators” at their cycling centers, and receive the opportunity to work as pro mechanics in cycling events around Israel, through our mobile workshop initiative, “The Bartalit”.

Our young Instructors course is designed for motivated participants in 10th-12th grades who are interested in becoming certified instructors within the organization. The course provides them with the essential foundations for mountain-bike instruction, including technical training, leadership skills, risk-management skills and more. Upon completion of the course, they receive an official diploma from Wingate College and return to their cycling centers to assist in leading our beginners cycling groups on a weekly basis.

Course for Mountain-Bike group leaders in Collaboration with Wingate College

As part of the expansion of the organization’s activities, twice a year we conduct a “Mountain-Bike group leaders” training course, in collaboration with the Wingate-Levinsky College.

This course serves as an entry point for joining the Bartali organization as an instructor.

Participants in the course are trained to lead an educational-oriented  cycling group, gaining skills necessary for leading group rides, learning the fundamentals of educational work with at-risk youth, leading mountain-bike journeys, risk management, outdoor problem-solving, group facilitation and more.

Participation in the course is scholarship-based, sponsored by the Bartali organization in collaboration with Bank Hapoalim.

The course is led by Nimrod Schwartz, Head of Training at Bartali, along with experienced lecturers from Bartali’s team, specializing in professional cycling and emotional therapy.
