ABOUT BARTALI - YOUTH IN MOVEMENT
Bartali - Youth in Movement (BYIM) is a unique Israeli nonprofit dedicated to empower Israeli youth from disadvantaged backgrounds and create connections between youth from all walks of Israeli society.
Through long-distance off-road cycling journeys, we strengthen their resilience, develop a sense of belonging and encourage ambition and a growth mindset.
BYIM is named after Righteous Among the Nations Gino Bartali, the Italian cycling legend who courageously risked his life to save hundreds of Jews, whom he never met, during WWII and never talked about it.
BYIM was established in 2019 by the former Israeli pro cyclist Ran Margaliot, who was also the Co-founder and team manager of “Israel Cycling Academy”, Israel’s first Professional cycling team.
To date, BYIM operates a network of cycling centers in 10 youth villages and social-service boarding facilities throughout Israel, for over 300 children and youth annually.
WHAT DO WE RIDE FOR?
This ride is dedicated to raise the funds needed to purchase a fleet of 300 new mountain bikes for our students at a cost of $1,000 USD per bike.
Replacement of the fleet is needed to replace our worn bikes and keep a high level of safety.
A new flee is needed to replace our worn bikes and keep a high level of safety. In addition, saving bike maintenance costs will allow us to address other needs in our organization, such as a graduate program.
